Simple ways to save energy, money and the environment
- Increase the temperature on your thermostat 3 to 5 degrees. You can save up to 2% on your electric cooling bill for each degree that you raise the temperature on your air conditioner.
- When you're away from home set your thermostat to 85 degrees or higher.
- Test and repair faulty air conditioning ducts. It can save you up to $250 per year.
- Clean and inspect air conditioner filters regularly.
- Use shade trees, window film, awnings, drapes or shades to block hot sunlight.
- Install ceiling fans to help you stay cool.
